Gut Health – a hot topic and one I absolutely love learning about. Last week I started drinking Kefir. Quite a bizarre taste to get use to, it fizzes on your tongue (like off yogurt – now you probably think, then why on earth would I want to consume Kefir?)

Well, the benefits my friend are enough to make you get use to that funky fizz, or actually start loving it!

Kefir is a cultured, fermented beverage and it is loaded with probiotic health benefits. Dairy proteins in kefir are rich in amino acid tryptophan – a key product for quality and restful sleep and I can vow for that. It has got a tranquilizing effect on the nervous system and can even help with anxiety.

Don’t fear if you are lactose intolerant – although it is made with raw milk the lactose gets eliminated during the making of it.

Not only does it have high levels of calcium to strengthen your bones, it also acts as an antioxidant and protects the immune system against cancer.

I mean it almost sounds to good to be true, to top it all it can even help you to lose weight. It revs up your metabolism and because its so extremely balancing to the gut, it can assist you in eliminating food cravings.

Ok, enough of kefir – although I can keep chatting about the benefits for another chapter. Head on out to your local health shop and get some Kefir and try it for yourself.
